There have been encouraging developments in the status of the follow on START treaty that the President negotiated earlier this year. The lame duck session of Congress is the administration’s last chance to push the world towards a United States with no nukes. Only a few months ago the Administration considered the Senate’s advise and consent a given with the initial endorsement of the Foreign Affairs ranking committee member, Indiana Senator Dick Lugar. Somehow, word got out that the treaty negotiated by the President was a bum deal for America. Two national security heavy weights weighed in on the current state of play for the START 2 treaty on Frank Gaffney’s Secure Freedom Radio.
