In the tradition of the ‘coup’ in Honduras, U.S. officials and media were quick to regurgitate the packaged authoritarian version of events in Latin America last week. This time it was a fantastic drama in the mind of Ecuador’s aspiring dictator, President Raphael Correa. To his credit, he was sure to close down all non-government media outlets to ensure accuracy in reporting after he staged his ‘self-coup’.
On today’s edition of Frank Gaffney’s Secure Freedom Radio, former Ambassador to Venezuela, Otto Reich, recounts the facts which were reported accurately in the WSJ by Mary O’Grady. Unsurprisingly, the facts are wildly different from the account of Correa, his state television apparatus, and most of the U.S. media.
