Today on Frank Gaffney’s Secure Freedom Radio, defense budget expert Mackenzie Eaglen of the Heritage Foundation goes into great detail in describing the matter and consequence of the programs that Defense Secretary Robert Gates has and will cut. There is much more at play than the touted “efficiency” cuts. Future weapons systems, Joint Forces Command, and the Marine Corps force structure are all in the cross hairs. Under the directives of the current administration Gates, “has already cut from the modernization program for all military services over 50 weapons systems programs at the cost 330 Billion dollars over the life of those programs.”
If you forget for a moment that these are systems, equipment, and personnel that we need for our national security in regards to both defense and deterrence, the secondary deduction one may take is that, in size and scope, something like a job cutting counter stimulus tends to emerge.
