Politico’s Maggie Haberman reports on the continuing political fallout from the campaign to erect a mosque near Ground Zero:
After almost total silence from New York elected officials over the weekend after President Obama’s mosque speech (in which some members were out of town, or pocket), the reactions from members in swing districts are starting to come in — and they’re almost all at odds with the president.
Well, yeah. The American people– by uncommonly large margins– are “at odds with the president” on this issue. And (compounded with a defiantly unpopular health care, a manifestly disastrous foreign policy only our enemies could love, and on and on) the American people are also seeing this issue, and the arrogance and bad-faith with which the issue is framed by the Left.
So expect much jockeying, all over the country, by Democrats in the next few weeks and months.
