Visit Beautiful North Korea in October!

The official website of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea invites you to to an event that must not be missed! It’s the anniversary celebration of the founding of the the ruling Worker’s Party!

“The Korean Friendship Association (KFA) organizes a trip to the DPR of Korea (North Korea) from 7th October to 16th October 2010 on the special occasion of the Anniversary of the Worker’s Party of Korea where special activities will be on display, including Mass Gymnastics show ARIRANG with more than 100,000 performers.”

Those interested should take note that the sponsor “doesn’t take responsibility for any personal, material damage or other problem related to this trip.” What those “other problems” might be are not exactly spelled out.

And you better behave yourself: “The number of visitors is limited to 20. Participants in the delegation will be accepted according to their order of arrival (pre-subscription) and after clearing all details and conditions. This isn’t a regular tourist trip, but a cultural one where visitors are expected to interact and behave accordingly.”

But they promise to treat you as a friend. Really. “A visitor joining the KFA Delegation is not treated as a tourist but as a friend of the DPRK [Democratic People’s Republic of Korea], having access to places, information, insights and events not allowed for regular visitors.” Or the people of North Korea, for that matter.

Better act quickly. You can pre-register here. Deadline to register is September 21. Dollars and Euros are welcome.
