Can Professor Daniel Drezner be serious? He launches a pathetic attack against Big Peace contributor Michael Moriarty, declaring that there is simply no evidence that George Soros is a guiding force in Obama’s foreign policy. Drezner takes a personal shot at Mr. Moriarity, and then goes on to claim that Big Peace isn’t interested in truth but in publishing “horses**t.” Strong words from the hallowed halls of academe!
Drezner seems to have made a habit of coming to Mr. Soros’ defense. He said Tony Blankley “is clearly an ass” for his criticisms of poor Mr. Soros, including the charge that Soros helped cause the Asian financial crisis in the 1990s.
When it comes to Michael’s post on Big Peace, Drezner writes “I see no evidence of Soros’ alleged influence over Obama.” Huh? The media has been writing now for almost two years about how George Soros is fueling Obama’s intellectual engines. The Wall Street Journal explained their close relationship and described the shadow Soros is casting over Obama’s policies and Time magazine has declared that the Soros bankrolled Center for American Progress is Obama’s “idea factory.”
What’s going on here? Is Drezner sucking up to a billionaire philanthropist? Maybe. Or perhaps he was just too busy to follow media reports on Soros’ influence on Obama. After all, he has been quite busy writing and researching his forthcoming book on foreign policy and zombies. The scholarly tome comes out next year. According to the publisher: “Addressing timely issues with analytical bite, Drezner looks at how well-known theories from international relations might be applied to a war with zombies. Exploring the plots of popular zombie films, songs, and books, Theories of International Relations and Zombies predicts realistic scenarios for the political stage in the face of a zombie threat and considers how valid–or how rotten–such scenarios might be.”
Wow. Serious stuff. Scholarly material. Certainly not horses***t.
Michael Moriarty joins a group of Big Peace contributors including, among others, Senator John Kyl, Rep. Thaddeus McCotter, Frank Gaffney, General Anthony Tata (ret.) We are a diverse and opinionated group. Here is a copy of the letter Mr. Moriarty has written to Prof. Drezner.

Dear Prof. Drezner,
Well!!
My word!!!
I’ve reached the pages of Foreign Policy
http://drezner.foreignpolicy.com/
in your opinion piece titled, The Unvarnished Truth About BIG PEACE.
In it there is a healthy, excerpted chunk of my BIG PEACE article, Soros/Obama Puppet Show, for which I thank you.
It is entirely possible that your courage – as versus the Oval Office’s refusal to call on Glenn Beck’s Red Line – will gain you a whole new set of readers, sir.
The risk, however, is two ways and BIG PEACE might eventually pick up a few classically misguided Liberals like my former self as part of its growing audience.
Oh, the expected Trolls from Foreign Policy will be a refreshing addition to the debates and hopefully reflective of the academic excellence reflected in your C.V.
You may have noticed my, by now, distrust of “thugs with degrees”.
Even though I was fortunate enough or the judging committee stupid enough to grant me a Fulbright Scholarship to London, fear not!
This is obviously no William F. Buckley Jr. you are dealing with now.
But then again, you don’t sound like any Christopher Hitchens.
What you have sounded off about, however, involves me directly.
You say, “Seriously, I see no evidence of Soros’ alleged influence over Obama, nor do I see any evidence of Soros’ desire to bring down the United States.”
Dragging the United States, kicking and screaming, into the economic quick sands of not only Far Left false promises but, for example, handing the American Gulf oil market over to Brazil’s own predominantly offshore drilling is not a recent headline … of sorts?
Isn’t Mr. Soros a close friend of Brazil’s leadership and an actual investor in Brazil’s oil explorations?
Forgive my hyperbole, but isn’t a moratorium on offshore oil drilling, imposed by an American, Presidential friend of George Soros going to help Brazil … and therefore George Soros … EXPONENTIALLY?
But then again, you can’t even see a shred of “influence” from Soros to Obama.
To me it looks like a simple and quintessentially Sorosian, first to second base, “put out” or, as The One’s Mentor might phrase it, “influencing reality”.
The rumor I’ve received about your publication, Foreign Policy, is that it is not just Left but Far Left.
Far Left visions of America are, for me, the equivalent of “bringing down the United States.”
Of course, you may merely call it, as you, George Soros and his favorite President might call it, “Fundamentally transforming the United States of America”.
Respectfully,
Michael Moriarty
