Police Report Details Colorado Democrat Jared Polis Pushing Female Employee

Democratic gubernatorial candidate Jared Polis physically pushed a female employee in 1999, according to a police report.

The report, first detailed by the Washington Free Beacon, details an accusation from former employee Patricia Hughes that Polis physically shoved her to prevent her from leaving his office building.

Polis is currently in Congress and is the Democratic nominee for Colorado Governor election.

Hughes claimed that Polis pushed her into a file cabinet and hurt her leg and interfered with her attempts to call 9-1-1.

The police report read:

I did observe two bruise marks on Ms. Hughes left inside bicep and a red welt on her thigh. She stated that the bruises on her arms were from Mr. Schutz ‘grabbing’ her with his right hand. The bruises were not conducive with Mr. Schutz’s statement that he pushed her shoulders. Nor were they conducive with Ms. Hughes’s statement of Mr. Schutz standing in front of her and grabbing her.

According to the report, Hughes had resigned days earlier and was trying to leave the office with sensitive business documents and that Polis was listed as the victim.

The Polis campaign defended him in a statement.

“Jared Polis was the victim of a crime, was the person who called the police, and was found to have done nothing wrong. Shame on Walker Stapleton for trying to exploit that,” stated Polis campaign chair Lisa Kaufmann in a statement to Colorado Public Radio.
