The Times of Israel reports: A Palestinian stabbed an Israeli police officer near Jerusalem’s Old City on Saturday and was shot at the scene.
The assailant reportedly died from his wounds, Arabic media reported. The 37-year-old police officer was taken to Jerusalem’s Shaare Tzedek medical center in moderate condition after the incident near the Lions’ Gate.
The attack came two days after Israeli prosecutors on Thursday indicted a Palestinian man at the Jerusalem District Court for the murder of a British exchange student in a stabbing attack on Jerusalem’s light rail last month. In the terror attack, Jamil Tamimi allegedly stabbed to death 21-year-old Hannah Bladon, who was in Israel as part of a study abroad program at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem.
