The Palestinian Fatah movement is gearing up for the celebration of the 52th anniversary of the Palestinian revolution, a day that doubles as the official anniversary of the movement’s establishment. The build-up includes publishing propaganda materials some of which explicitly celebrate operatives who perpetrated terror attacks against Israeli targets.
One of the persons gracing the movement’s official Facebook page is Dalal Mughrabi, the leader of the Fatah cell who perpetrated what has gone down in Israel’s history as the Coastal Road massacre of 1978. According to Fatah co-founder and Yasser Arafat deputy Khalil al-Wazir, Mughrabi was planning to seize a Tel Aviv hotel and was forced to settle for killing the 38 passengers of a chartered bus, including 13 children in what was one of the most horrifying terror attacks Israel has ever known.
These days Mughrabi appears prominently in the faction’s propaganda, to show that Fatah, accused of security cooperation with Israel, is the leader in armed resistance against Israel.
Mughrabi’s picture appears in a post glorifying senior party operatives who sacrificed their lives for the Palestinian cause, captioned with “The martyr Dalal Al-Mughrabi, the Bride of Palestine.” In the comments, many offered prayers for her salvation and divine mercy, describing her as one of the indisputable heroes of the Palestinian resistance.
