An Egyptian man has reportedly been arrested on charges of killing his 10-year-old daughter because she left the house without his permission, according to local media.
The man was arrested after the girl’s body was found in a garbage bag in the town of Elkhasos, north of Cairo. He later admitted to the charges.
After his arrest, police realized that he had been arrested a year earlier on suspicion of having beaten his wife, his child’s mother, to death.
He told police that he battered his daughter, and once he made sure she was no longer alive, he placed her body in a plastic bag and drove to the other side of town to dispose of it.
“Yes I murdered her because her behavior was inappropriate,” he told police. “I asked her not to leave the house without my permission and she defied my instructions.”
On that day, he said, “I heard the neighbors say that she behaved inappropriately and that she met a young man, so my blood boiled. I came home and couldn’t find her. When she came back, I asked her where she was and she didn’t answer. I beat her with an electric cord and put out cigarettes on her body until she died.”
“After I realized she was dead, I sat next to her body and cried, trying to figure out what to do with her body, because I had just come out of jail after serving a five-year sentence for killing her mother, whose behavior was also inappropriate,” he said. “So I took the bus to the other side of town, threw her body in a dumpster and returned home.”
