TEL AVIV – More than two decades since their last performance in Israel, Aerosmith is slated to return to the Holy Land for a one-off concert in Tel Aviv in May 2017.
According to Ynet news, the band’s management is ironing out the final negotiations of a contract with Israeli producers to perform at Yarkon Park.
Earlier this year, front man Steven Tyler announced that 2017 would be a farewell tour after which the band would no longer perform.
Israeli producers the Bluestone Group did not directly confirm the concert, saying: “We are holding negotiations with dozens of artists, we don’t have confirmation from any artist and when we have something to announce, we will do so.”
There is no doubt that once the confirmation comes through, Boycott Divestment and Sanctions activists will pressure the rock and roll band to cancel the concert, as they have done with almost every artist coming to Israel.
Vociferous Israel-basher and former Pink Floyd front man Roger Waters, who is the music industry’s self-appointed leader of the anti-Israel campaign, has been accused of using bullying tactics to persuade other musicians not to perform in Israel.
The last time Aerosmith performed in Israel was in the summer of 1994, also at the Yarkon Park.
