Green Party Presidential Candidate: Stop U.S. Military Aid To ‘Oppressive, Apartheid’ Israel

TEL AVIV – The U.S. Green Party has nominated Israel basher Dr. Jill Stein as presidential candidate, who promised that if elected she would end all military aid to the “very oppressive” Israeli government that supports “occupation” and “apartheid.”  

Continuing the U.S. policy of providing military aid to Israel is “decisively against our common values, to support apartheid, to support home demolitions, to support occupation, to support violations of international law,” Stein said in an interview with Newsweek published Friday.

Stein, a secular leftwing Jew who is also a physician and an environmental activist, supports the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions movement (BDS) against Israel, in keeping with her party’s policy.

Maintaining that she has an “ethical” relationship with Israel, Stein told Newsweek that rightwing donors like Sheldon Adelson were “messing with the politics of Israel” by contributing “huge amounts of money” to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

Were she an Israeli citizen, Stein said, she would be “up in arms about it.”

As the Green Party candidate in the 2012 election, Stein received just shy of half a million votes – some 0.36 percent of the ballots cast in 36 states.

She also ran unsuccessfully for governor of Massachusetts in 2002 and 2010.

The Harvard graduate promised to introduce “ethical foreign policy” to all countries violating human rights, not just Israel.

“We should not be selling weapons or funding armies of countries who are violating our basic values of human dignity and human rights. I would go to Israel—and to Saudi Arabia—with all humility, because nobody has been a bigger violator of these rights and values than our own country,” she said.

In tweets, she accused Israel of “the pillage of Palestine” and posted that Israel’s “war crimes & human rights violations are off the charts.”

Currently polling at 5%, Stein needs to garner 15% support in election polls in order to qualify for the presidential debates.
