TEL AVIV – Hillary Clinton condemned the burning of an Israeli flag outside the Democratic National Convention this week.
“Hillary Clinton has always stood against efforts to marginalize Israel and incitement, and she strongly condemns this kind of hatred,” said Sarah Bard, Clinton’s Jewish outreach director.
“Burning the Israeli flag is a reckless act that undermines peace and our values,” she added.
The flag was set on fire on Tuesday night while protesters chanted “Free Palestine” and “Long live the Intifada” outside the Wells Fargo Arena in Philadelphia.
An adviser on Israel to Donald Trump called on both Clinton and the Democratic National Committee to condemn the act in a statement earlier on Wednesday.
More than 50 protesters were arrested on charges of disorderly conduct.
