TEL AVIV – Donald Trump took to Facebook on Friday to condemn the latest terrorist attack in Israel earlier today in which an Israeli man was murdered and his wife was seriously injured when his car was sprayed with gunfire from a passing vehicle near Hebron.
Trump called upon the Palestinian leadership to “completely end this barbaric behavior.” And he wrote that President Obama should “recognize and condemn each and every terrorist attack against our allies in Israel.”
“This cannot become the ‘new normal.’ It has to stop!” demanded Trump, referring to Palestinian terrorist attacks.
Trump’s full Facebook post reads:
Palestinian terrorists have carried out four separate attacks in the past 32 hours, killing two Israelis, including a 13-year old girl murdered while she slept in her own bedroom, and wounding at least six others.
The terrorist attack to which Trump referred took place near Hebron on Route 60, a highway shared between Israelis and Palestinians. The murdered victim was identified as Miki Mark, the 48-year old director of a yeshiva in Otniel, located near Hebron. Mark’s baby was reportedly injured and his 14-year old son was moderately wounded in the drive-by attack. He was the father of 10 children and cousin of Mossad chief Yossi Cohen.
A spokesperson for the Israel Defense Forces said the assault was a terrorist attack and that forces were searching the area for the gunmen who fled the scene.
About four hours earlier, a relative of the 17-year old Palestinian who stabbed and killed 13-year-old Hallel Yaffa Ariel in her bedroom on Thursday reportedly tried to stab an Israeli female soldier on Friday near the Tomb of the Patriarchs in Hebron and was shot dead during the attempted attack.
Yesterday, two Israelis were wounded in a Palestinian terrorist stabbing in Netanya, located about 18 miles north of Tel Aviv.
Also yesterday, teen terrorist Muhammad Nasser Tarayrah murdered Ariel in her bedroom in the Ramat Mamre neighborhood of Kiryat Arba, a neighborhood close to the fence that straddles the city. Kiryat Arba is on the outskirts of Hebron in the West Bank.
A man, an off-duty guard, was seriously wounded when he responded to the terrorist attack.
Israel Defense Forces Spokesman Peter Lerner tweeted an image of Ariel’s bloody bedroom.
Tarayrah was shot and killed before he could escape the scene.
The Times of Israel has more about the attack:
According to an initial account, the attacker jumped the fence — a breach that sent an alert to the IDF and civilian security guards in the area — and broke into the girl’s bedroom.
Forces searching for the cause of the breach heard screams coming from the house and raced in to find the girl with multiple stab wounds in her bed, according to Channel 10. One of the guards hurried to her to provide first aid and was jumped by the attacker who managed to stab him.
The girl’s father and other guards fired shots at the attacker, killing him, and also wounding the responding guard.
David Adom, a paramedic who responded to the scene, stated, “The girl was unconscious, without a pulse and not breathing. She had a number of penetrating wounds on her upper body. We loaded her onto the ambulance while performing CPR. Her condition was very serious. The second victim we loaded into the ambulance and gave him life-saving first aid. He was fully conscious, speaking with us throughout the ride [to the hospital].”
Tarayrah reportedly wrote on Facebook on Saturday: “Death is a right and I am asking for my right to die.”
Terrorism apparently runs in the Tarayrah family. Mohammad’s uncle, Yusuf Waleed Tarayrah, carried out a car ramming attack in March near Kiryat Arba during which he was killed by IDF forces.
