During a radio interview that aired on Sunday, U.S. radio talk show host Aaron Klein asked a leading Islamic State-allied jihadist based in the Gaza Strip whether he or his terrorist group wants to kill Klein because he is an American Jew.
Inquired Klein:
So, as you know, I am an American. I am not Israeli; I am foreign reporter based in the Middle East. But I am Jewish. Let’s say right now I go into the Gaza Strip. I, Aaron Klein, American, Jewish, again not Israeli, I go into the Gaza Strip and turn myself over to the Islamic State representatives, to the Salafi organizations in the Gaza Strip.
As an American, as a Jew, what would your groups do to me? In other words, we are doing this interview by phone. But if I were in person, just based on who I am, an American, a Jew, and who you are, would you or would your organizations kill me?
Klein, who broadcasts his show from Tel Aviv, was speaking with Abu al-Ayna al-Ansari, a Salafist movement senior official in the Gaza Strip. Klein doubles as Breitbart’s senior investigative reporter and Jerusalem bureau chief.
Ansari is a well-known Gazan Salafist jihadist allied with Islamic State ideology. During the interview with Klein, Ansari seemed to be speaking as an actual IS member, repeatedly using the pronoun “we” when referring to IS and even making declarations on behalf of IS.
IS has been reluctant to officially declare its presence in Gaza for fear of a Hamas clampdown, but the group is known to be active in the coastal enclave and Ansari is a suspected IS leader. IS-aligned militants have taken responsibility for recent rocket fire from Gaza aimed at Israel.
Ansari replied to Klein’s question:
Aaron, when the prophet was sieging the city of Tayeb that was not far from Mecca, he was told that there are women and that there are kids there. And he said, “We know that there are women and we know that there are kids. They are paying the price of what the enemy did.”
We follow what the prophet said and the prophet said that everybody that comes to us and pledges his allegiance and loyalty and wants to live safe on our land, we will be just with him and we will not hurt him. But if it appears that he or you are a secret service agent, you will be killed.
If you will reach the Gaza Strip as a visitor, as a supporter, as one who wants to assist the injured and assist the kids, you will be welcomed. But if we discover that the goal of your visit is different, then you will be killed.
Ansari claimed his group doesn’t kill “because we like to kill,” and that IS are “not terrorists.”
We don’t kill because we like to kill. We are not terrorists. We are just revenging what these countries do to the believers. Do to the Muslims, to their property, to their land, to their kids. And we are only retaliating to what is done against our people and against the Muslims.
