TEL AVIV – An overwhelming majority of Palestinians support the current wave of terrorism against Israelis until it achieves its goals, a new opinion poll found.
In a poll conducted by the Watan Research Center on 1,167 Arabs, 72% of residents in the West Bank and Gaza said they support the ongoing “Al-Quds [Jerusalem] Intifada,” the term given to the current wave of vehicular and stabbing attacks.
Nearly half of all respondents, 48%, said that the goal of the current intifada is the “liberation of Palestine” – referring to the conquest of all of Israel – while only 11.7% defined the goal as being the liberation of territory over the so-called 1949 Armistice lines.
Forty-four percent of Arabs polled said they supported terror against Israel using guns; 18% said they supported stabbing attacks and 14% expressed support for throwing rocks at Israelis. According to 15.2% of those surveyed, the goal is the dismantling of the “settlements.”
67% of respondents believe that the Palestinians need to establish a unified leadership, calling for Hamas and the Palestinian Authority (PA) to implement the unity agreement signed in April 2014.
