Campaigners have imported an anti-Brexit float made for Germany’s carnival season, using its “first appearance” in the UK to protest outside the prime minister’s residence at 10 Downing Street.
“Thank you to everybody who came down to see the Theresa May float at Downing Street and other locations last night, when it made an extra special visit to our vigil”, announced the group No10Vigil – Vigil against Brexit on Facebook.
The group claims to have protested outside Downing Street every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday since February, promising to “keep going until this Brexit madness is stopped”.
“As was widely publicised, yesterday we were at the BBC to greet Theresa May both before and after her appearance on the One Show”, they said.
Greeting Theresa May after the One Show
As was widely publicised, yesterday we were at the BBC to greet Theresa May both before and after her appearance on the One Show.
Most of the publicity comes due to us securing the first public outing in the UK of the now infamous Theresa May float for our protest. However, here is a video showing her driving right past our waving EU flags on her way out.. followed by some singing about both the General Election and the One Show. Check it out.

Campaigners imported the German float, used in Rose Monday parades in February, in time for Theresa May’s appearance on the BBC’s One Show, parking it outside the BBC’s studios during filming.
“As was widely publicised, yesterday we were at the BBC to greet Theresa May both before and after her appearance on the One Show,” the group continued. “Most of the publicity comes due to us securing the first public outing in the UK of the now infamous Theresa May float for our protest.”
They added: “We are incredibly proud to have secured the first two public appearances by the float within the UK,” implying they and other groups will be using it to campaign against Brexit in the future.
“For as long as necessary we will be the flea in Brexit’s ear, the thorn in its side, the shout on its doorstep!” claim No10Vigil, describing their remit on Facebook.
“Remember – We are the people too, on the Prime Minister’s doorstep, rain or shine, providing a platform for MPs and other vocal Pro-EU voices, loud and clear and Brexit Proof.”
The group has held other notable protest. On 3 May, they organised an event touted as “a Polish celebration… [of] Poland’s Constitution Day”. And on 5 May, they hosted left wing singer Peter da Clinker, who performed “Sh*t Eating Grin”, described as “a song about our deceitful PM”.
