Prime Minister David Cameron has praised the man who shouted “You ain’t no Muslim bruv” at the Leytonstone terror attacker this weekend.
The man can be heard on video shouting the remark at Muhaydin Mire as he was restrained by police after stabbing a man and shouting “this is for Syria!”
Today, David Cameron praised the unknown man’s remark, saying he put it “better than I could have done”.
The hashtag #YouAintNoMuslimBruv has been trending since the attack as the footage spread online.
Mr Cameron said: “Some of us have dedicated speeches and media appearances and soundbites and everything to this subject, but ‘you ain’t no Muslim, bruv’ said it all much better than I could have done.
“Thank you, because that will be applauded around the country.”
A Vine has already appeared of Mr Cameron’s comment:
Mr Mire appeared at Westminster Magistrates’ Court this morning charged with attempted murder. Prosecutor David Cawthorne said that Mr Mire had stabbed his victim “for Syria and for his brothers in Syria.”
