Home Secretary: Known Child Abuse is Just ‘Tip of The Iceberg’

Amid disturbing allegations of a VIP ‘untouchable’ child sex ring in 1970’s Britain, the Home Secretary Theresa May has warned what is now known about deviant sexual behaviour involving children is “just the tip of the iceberg”.

Speaking on the Sunday-morning BBC Andrew Marr show, May said without a full and independent investigation it would not be possible to verify the claims now surfacing about the group and others. She raised the prospect of serious failings by state institutions such as police and care homes when she said: “It’s not possible to say whether there was a cover-up, that is why I think it is so important we have the inquiry so we get at the truth.

“There is a real issue here about how was it that in the past, but continuing today, the very institutions of the state that should be protecting children were not doing so. Why was it these abuses were able to take place and nobody was brought to justice as a result of that?”, reports the Independent. 

The latest shocking allegations centre around an alleged paedophile ring of powerful men who abused children in the late 1970’s and early 1980’s, which is now the focus of a police investigation called Operation Midland. The Metropolitan Police are investigating the possibility that the depraved ‘sex parties’ which may have even involved bestiality and sadistic torture may have gone as far as murder. One witness who has now come forwards has claimed he knows of three young murdered boys, one of whom he witnessed die himself, while in the company of a senior politician. 

Speaking on the show yesterday morning, the commissioner of the Metropolitan Police, Sir Bernard Hogan-Howe said his force would be working to establish the true events, and that he could “assure you there will be no cover-up while I’m here,” warning that the public shouldn’t expect the results of an investigation soon, owing to the enormous volume of un-digitised archives that will have to be sifted through by investigators. 

Sir Bernard said: “There are a series of claims over quite a long period of time and not all of them are linked, although in the public imagination they may be in that it is child abuse.

“You have got the extra complication of people in power and was there a cover-up? I’m determined we will get to the bottom of this so we are talking to the witnesses and all the people who have got information.

“I think everyone will understand that this long after the event it can be quite hard to get to the bottom of the claims and complaints. We will do but it can take a little long than people might expect.”

The United Kingdom is presently being hit by successive waves of alleged child abuse cover-ups and scandals. Last week Breitbart London reported an accusation that Birmingham City Council knew about the link between Pakistani taxi drivers and the systematic abuse of young girls taken from care homes as early as 1991. The academic author of the “ground-breaking” report claims that after presenting her work to the city council, she was accused of malpractice by the council who ordered all copies of the report destroyed.
