A physical education teacher at a Los Angeles elementary school shocked parents and upset students after allegedly stripping naked on school grounds Friday.
A construction worker passing by the area captured video of the unidentified teacher putting his pants back on while on the playground:
The teacher, employed at Carthay Center Elementary School, is also accused of chasing after the second and fifth grade students.
“He was supposed to be helping them learn P.E., run around and have fun,” one parent told CBS Los Angeles. “But he undressed and started chasing the kids while he was naked, and then the kids ducked and dodged, ran into some of the classrooms and got safe haven that way.”
“All of the kids saw his private parts. Very embarrassing, very upset,” said one parent.
The school sent out a letter and a robocall to parents, notifying them of the incident.
“An individual began behaving in an unusual way, prompting us to contact law enforcement,” the letter reads in part. “As a safety precaution, our school went on a brief lock-down while officers responded and took the individual into custody.”
Los Angeles Unified School District officials said they could not comment on the specific incident but stated the man was a contracted employee of the school and was allowed on campus.
The school made mental health counselors available to students traumatized by the incident.
School police said they are investigating and building a case against the man.
