On Saturday night, a 20-year-old man was shot and killed while playing Pokemon Go in San Francisco’s Aquatic Park.

Calvin Riley was a graduate of Serra High School in San Mateo. Thereafter, “he pitched for the baseball team at San Joaquin Delta College.”

According to ABC 7, there was no confrontation between Riley and his attacker. Family friend John Kirby said, “There was nothing said back and forth. It was just senseless, just came up and shot in the back and ran away for nothing.”

Kirby said Riley was playing the game with another friend. They noticed someone watching them but never really focused on the person because they were staring at their cell phones. At one point, Riley and his friend separated, and “when the friend came around a corner he heard a gunshot, saw [Riley] fall, and whoever did it ran away and possibly got into a car.”

Riley’s family is devastated. “They moved to the Bay Area from a high-crime city on the East Coast for a better and safer life,” and now tragedy has struck.

The San Francisco Police Department is asking anyone with information on the shooting to call the “anonymous tip line” at  (415) 575-4444.
