The wife of Golden State Warriors star and National Basketball Association Most Valuable Player Stephen Curry said Thursday that Game 6 of the NBA Finals was “fixed,” and that police outside the venue had been racist.
Ayesha Curry took to Twitter to express her frustrations after the Warriors fell to LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers, 115-101, in Cleveland. The series now heads back to Oakland for a decisive Game 7 match on Father’s Day this Sunday.
Curry fouled out and was ejected for throwing his mouth guard into the audience, where it hit a fan. (He later apologized.)
Mrs. Curry tweeted, 15 minutes after the game: “I’ve lost all respect sorry this is absolutely rigged for money… Or ratings in [sic] not sure which. I won’t be silent . Just saw it live sry [sorry].” She deleted the tweet and apologized, but left others up, including one claiming that police at the Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland had racially profiled her father:
She also accused arena staff of deliberately making Warriors’ players’ families wait outside the arena:
The Warriors overcame a huge 3-1 deficit in the NBA Western Conference Finals to defeat the Oklahoma City Thunder and reach the finals. Now Cleveland will try to become the first NBA team to accomplish that feat in the NBA Finals.
Last year, the Warriors clinched the Finals on Cleveland’s home court. They were denied at home this week before losing in Cleveland on Thursday in a game where the Cavaliers held the lead the entire game.
