A suspicious package discovered near the United States Army National Guard Recruiter prompted a bomb scare and the closure of several streets in West Los Angeles on Wednesday morning.

According to officers on the scene, the package was tied to a pole.

Both the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) and the LAPD bomb squad are on the scene investigating the package and the surrounding area.

Jam Kim, Public Information Officer with the LAPD, told Breitbart News that the phone call to report the suspicious package was made at 9:55 a.m. but that there were “no threats associated with this incident.”

In December, a bomb threat was called in to a school board member of the Los Angeles Unified School District, prompting the closure of all the schools in the district. It was later deemed a hoax.
