Pomona Police are seeking 51-year-old Clarence Duwell Dear, whom they believe doused a woman with gasoline and burned her alive on Friday.

The incident occurred around 1:40 pm.

According to the Los Angeles Times, the Pomona Police Department believe that “the woman and the suspect got into an argument that led to a fight. Investigators say the man chased the victim from their home and doused her with gasoline. Police say the man then started the fire, possibly with a lit cigarette.”

Engulfed in flames, the woman collapsed outside of a “home in the 1500 block of Cordova Street.” The Los Angeles County Fire Department arrived and transported her to a hospital, and she died from her injuries.

Pomona PD says Dear “ran off” after allegedly setting the woman on fire. He is “described as black, 5 foot 10, 170 pounds, with black and grey hair and brown eyes.” Police consider him “extremely dangerous.”
