American hero Spencer Stone was released from the UC Davis Medical Center in Sacramento on Thursday, one week after he suffered life-threatening stab wounds outside of a nightclub while defending a woman.
His older brother Everett told the local CBS affiliate in Sacramento that “Spencer was stabbed four times–once in the heart, once in the left lung, the liver and the back. He in essence had to have open-heart surgery to save his life from the knife wound to his heart.”
Spencer is reportedly happy to finally be back in his own bed at his quiet, Carmichael home.
He posed for a that which was posted to social media showing him stitched up from his stomach to chest. His mom said she is grateful to UC Davis for helping to save her son’s life. Spencer is known as the “rock” of his family.
Stone was stabbed just two months after taking down an alleged Moroccan-born Islamic terrorist on a train en route from Paris to Amsterdam, when he was also injured. He and two of his friends wrestled an AK-47 away from Ayoub El-Khazzani, 26. E-Khazzani then took out a box cutter and stabbed Stone.
Stone received France’s highest award, the Legion d’Honneur as well as the U.S. Purple Heart.
The Midtown Business Association, which includes several local businesses and bars, have teamed up to raise over $5,500 in reward money for information leading to the arrest of the suspects in Spencer’s Sacramento stabbing. Two of the suspects involved in his stabbing were reportedly described as Asian males who drove off in a dark Toyota Camry. They are still at large.
