An honest man from Berkeley, California, won a year’s worth of Domino’s pizza after he returned $1,300 in cash mistakenly delivered with his order.

Mike Vegas discovered $1,300 in the box of chicken wings accompanying his pizza after he ate a slice and stuck the box of wings in his refrigerator. Retrieving the box of wings later, he found the cash that the delivery driver was supposed to deposit at the bank after the drop-off at Vegas’ house.

Vegas told ABC 13, “I wanted to keep it, believe me. But I can’t, I can’t do it.” According to CBS Sacramento, Vegas said he considered keeping it and asked friends on Facebook what to do. Some of them suggested keeping the cash. He decided otherwise.

Dominos returned the favor, offering Vegas free pizzas for one year.

Vegas admitted he knew how the driver must have felt, since his first job was as a delivery driver for Pizza Hut when he was 16 years old.

Domino’s charges $8.99 for a medium 2-topping handmade pan pizza; if Vegas were to order one every day for the next year, it would normally cost him $3281.35–before tax and delivery tips.
