A video captured a man hurling a string of racists taunts at six-time NFL Pro Bowler Terrell Owens during a coffee throwing skirmish at a Brentwood Starbucks.
The news coincides with Owens learning that the Pro Football Hall of Fame considers him for induction among 108 other “modern day” nominees. Brett Favre and Owens appear as two of the men enjoying the strongest cases on the list.
TMZ obtained the video catching a man named Arman calling Owens the n-word and a “f***ing knuckle-running, spear-chucking, monkey-ass looking motherf*****.”
Arman filed a police report on Wednesday claiming that T.O. provoked the tirade by throwing a cup of hot coffee on him. The third all-time NFL leader in touchdown receptions (153) told a different story.
“Terrell tells us Arman got aggressive with him inside a Brentwood, CA Starbucks, threw a cup of liquid at him outside the shop and repeatedly used the n-word,” reported TMZ. Owens claims that he hurled the coffee at Arman in retaliation to having one thrown on him.
Arman at first said that he didn’t yell any racist comments, but corrected himself after TMZ informed him that they had video of the incident. Arman said that he only used the n-word, but didn’t include the “r” at the end of the word. “I use that word and it’s very much accepted in the black community.”
One more time Arman had to correct himself when TMZ told him that they have on camera him saying “f***ing knuckle-running, spear-chucking, monkey-ass looking motherf*****.” Arman admitted that he was “purposefully racist” toward T.O. to make him both “mad and sad.” He added, “I’m Middle Eastern and Muslim, and not KKK.”
The Muslim denied throwing a cup of coffee at T.O., and added, ”There’s freedom of speech but there’s not freedom of attack. He kicked me in the Starbucks.”
Arman now worries that his name may be “ruined” among his African American friends. He acknowledged that his comments were “as racist as it gets.” But he insists that T.O. was the one being violent. He directed a comment to the NFL icon: ”You’re lucky I don’t whip your ass.”
Arman claims to be a champion of those who suffer from discrimination. “I come from a very politically active family and community who has fought for the rights of any and every group that has ever been racially discriminated against.”
