KKK Propaganda Left in Whittier

KTLA 5

On Sunday, someone who supports the Ku Klux Klan blanketed a block in Whittier with plastic bags containing fliers espousing KKK propaganda, along with a rock and a lollipop.

According to the Whittier Police Department, the 5400 block of Adele Avenue was targeted, but no crime could be charged, as the fliers contained a phone number and mailing address for the Loyal White Knights of the Klu Klux Klan but no threats.

One resident, Stella Paquin, told the Los Angeles Times,“When I first read it, I thought it was a hoax. I have never heard or read anything that impacted me so much to think, ‘My goodness, there are just such hateful people. Whittier is a very quaint town. This really shocked us.’”

KKK material has been distributed sporadically in Orange County over the last couple of years. Over 25 Klan fliers were left at residences in Old Towne Orange in November 2013; in July 2014, residents of Orange found plastic bags similar to the Whittier bag; on January 18 of this year, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, KKK fliers were distributed anonymously in Santa Ana, and last week, roughly 100 Fullerton residences found plastic bags with the same paraphernalia as the ones in Whittier and had verbiage targeting blacks, Latinos, and Jews.
