‘Gun Safety’ PSA Encourages Kids to Steal Parents’ Guns, Turn Them in at School

A recently released anti-gun public service announcement seemingly encourages children to steal their parents’ firearms and turn them over to teachers in school.

In the ad, a young boy can be seen sneaking into his mother’s bedroom and taking a handgun out of the dresser. He then puts the gun in his backpack, and the scene changes to his school.

Once in school, the student waits until after class, while melodramatic music plays. After the other students leave, the boy brings the gun up to his teacher, points it at her, slams it on her desk, and says, “Can you take this away? I don’t feel safe with a gun in my house.”

The ad, produced by San Francisco-based Sleeper 13 Productions, drew quick condemnation on the production company’s Facebook page.

“So, when a child does this and accidentally kills himself or an innocent bystander, will Sleeper 13 Productions and Regina Sincic be brought up on charges as an accessory?” wrote one commenter.

“Weapons theft, unlawful possession of a weapon by a minor, illegal concealed carry of a weapon, carrying a weapon onto school property, assault, and brandishing,” wrote another, presumably listing the potential felony charges an individual would face for performing the actions seen in the video.

Sleeper 13 Productions did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
