LOS ANGELES, California — The Los Angeles Fire Department’s Arson and Counter-Terrorism section, in conjunction with the National Response Team of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, is seeking two men who could be witnesses to the massive fire that destroyed the Da Vinci building in downtown LA last week. The LAFD released video footage on Monday from nearby surveillance cameras, as well as still images of the two men, and are asking individuals with information on their identities to come forward.
The LAFD stated in a press release: “These two individuals are not considered suspects or persons of interest. Investigators have identified them as being in the area of the fire, and merely wish to interview them.”
One of the men was captured walking calmly down the street as the fire tore through the Da Vinci’s wooden frame. He was wearing a football jersey with the number 21 on it. The second man could be seen clinging onto the fence surrounding the flame-engulfed development and attempting to climb over it before being forcefully torn away from it by firefighters. He was wearing a black leather jacket and a baseball cap.
The building was deemed a total loss. Investigators are still not ruling out foul play and potentially terrorism in the investigation. “At this point nothing is [being] ruled out,” special agent Carlos Canino of the ATF told Breitbart News in an interview last week.
Due to the scale of the fire, it could take up to several months before investigators discover the cause of the historic conflagration. The LAFD and ATF are urging the public to view and share the video and images they have provided above. They ask that anyone with information that may assist them in identifying the two men contact the LAFD Arson Section directly by calling (213) 893-9850.
