Former CEO of Death Row Records Marion “Suge” Knight and comedian Katt Williams were arrested Wednesday on robbery charges after the pair allegedly stole a camera from a woman in a Beverly Hills alley on September 5.
According to the Los Angeles Times, Knight and Williams allegedly chased a photographer down an alley in Beverly Hills, where they “forcibly” took the camera from her. The woman reportedly sustained minor injuries in the altercation.
Knight could reportedly face up to 30 years to life in state prison due to a prior conviction for assault with a deadly weapon. Williams faces up a maximum sentence of seven years in jail. The district attorney’s office told the Times that prosecutors are seeking $1 million bail for Knight and $75,000 bail for Williams.
The report notes that both Knight and Williams have repeatedly run into trouble with the law.
When he was arrested Wednesday, Williams was at an Inglewood courthouse where he was due for a separate arraignment on two counts of felony assault in addition to the use of tear gas. The charges stem from a July incident in which the comedian allegedly pepper-sprayed a man and tried to run him over in a car.
Knight has reportedly been in and out of jail since 1997, when he was arrested for violating his probation from a previous assault. Knight was also arrested in 2008 for drug possession and aggravated assault, but escaped a lengthy sentence by pleading guilty to a battery charge in 2009.
