On Tuesday the King Fire threatened homes near Pollock Pines and shut down a stretch of Highway 50 in El Dorado County.
As reported on Tuesday by Breitbart News, three miles north east of Pollock Pines, the King Fire which started on Saturday afternoon had devoured 3,900 acres and was only 10% contained as of Monday.
The blaze has now grown to 18,544 acres and forced closure of the highway between Sly Park Road to Riverton Sand Shed. Cal Fire is on record for saying that it will be a worst case scenario if the fire jumps Highway 50 and targets homes in Pollock Pines and Sly Park. CBS13 Sacramento reported that crews spent Tuesday night trying to keep that from happening.
CBS explained that the flames ignite the trees blowing them up almost instantaneously dispersing myriad embers into the sky toward the other side of the freeway, where the homes are at risk. The area mostly consists of brush and trees, which makes for plenty of fuel to maintain the fires intensity.
