Congressional candidate and Afghanistan war veteran Jeff Gorell (R-Camarillo) launched the first television ad of his campaign on Tuesday, entitled “He Knows Us.”
The 30-second “positive” TV spot features Democratic and Republican leaders, especially women, as well as several Ventura County residents and workers who discuss several issues Gorell would tackle on behalf of California if elected to Congress in place of his incumbent Democratic rival Julia Brownley on November 4.
Those issues, according to the ad, include building small businesses, increasing veteran care and attending to farmers who are suffering as a result of California’s crippling drought.
In a press released sent out ahead his TV ad launch, Gorell issued the following statement:
My campaign is focused on restoring bipartisan, common sense leadership to Congress and this first television commercial captures the essence of what my candidacy is all about. The people of Ventura County deserve a positive campaign and I intend to give them one.
My commercial taps into the growing public sentiment in Ventura County that we need a new Representative in Congress who understands our local communities and who will put our concerns ahead of political partisanship.
Gorell’s “positive commercial” is being released on the heels of “a negative campaign” by Brownley, who has launched several attacks on Gorell he has described as “a negative, misleading, and deceitful television campaign.”
