ESPN host Max Kellerman’s suspension marks the third company employee to be reprimanded in the past two weeks, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Kellerman’s offense? He admitted on air that he struck his then-girlfriend, Erin, several years ago back in their college days. The couple ended up getting married and have been together for 20 years.
Max explained in the story that he and Erin were at a college party and were drunk at the time. Max said that Erin slapped him, and so he slapped her back.
ESPN says Kellerman will return to the radio Thursday. One of ESPN’s two other suspensions also involved physical abuse.
Stephen A. Smith landed a week-long suspension on July 29 after making comments about NFL player Ray Rice’s suspension for assaulting his girlfriend. Earlier this week, Dan Le Batard received a two-day suspension for putting up a Miamibillboard that mocks NBA star LeBron James.
