The actor wondered if his political leanings hurt his most recent Emmy campaign. Grammer has five Emmys on his shelf already, but only in recent years has he publicly embraced conservative causes.
The industry still can’t resist his singular talent.
The former Frasier star’s latest project, the FX comedy Partners with Martin Lawrence, drew more than 1 million viewers for its two episodes, according to Variety. That leaves the show on the proverbial bubble, allowing for positive word of mouth to push the series toward a sizable pick up.
The half-hour, starring the comedy vets as mismatched Chicago lawyers, is produced under Debmar-Mercury and Lionsgate Television’s 10/90 model that bore comedies like “Tyler Perry’s House of Payne” and “Anger Management.” If the show meets certain ratings benchmarks after its initial 10 episodes, as those did, it will get the go-ahead for 90 more.
Grammer’s previous TV series, Boss, earned raves but ended up lasting only two seasons.
