Predicting a dry summer ahead, San Diego called her citizens to begin steps this week to curb usage and conserve water with the move to a “Level 1” drought alert.
The suggestions that come with the “Level 1” alert include suggestion for voluntary citizen compliance to not water lawns more than three days a week, not watering during “rain events,” and watering lawns or washing vehicles only before 10 a.m. or after 6 p.m. in the summer months reported NBC San Diego.
San Diego City water use restrictions currently list the mandatory requirement that cars must be washed only, “at a commercial car wash or by using a hose with an automatic shutoff nozzle or with a hand-held water container.” Restaurants are restricted from giving customers water or water refills unless their patrons request it.
Requirements for water conservation in the city of San Diego also include not watering down “driveways, sidewalks, patios or other paved areas,” immediately fixing water leaks, and not overfilling pools.
