A handsome mugshot of one of Stockton’s “most violent criminals” has gone viral internationally with over 68,000 “likes” on social media and nearly 20,000 comments such as “I wish I was his victim” and “baby ur too hot for jail.”
Other comments include “further proof of the foolishness of those who judge books by their covers” and “May be beautiful on the outside but a monster inwardly.”
Convicted felon Jason Meeks, 30, was arrested on Wednesday on five weapons charges and one gang charge, according to Officer Joseph Silva, a spokesman for California’s Stockton Police Department, writes the San Francisco Chronicle. Silva and officers seemed baffled by the sheer volume of attention Meeks’s photo has received.
“I have not seen that many likes for a photo before,” Silva said. The police department established its Facebook page in March of 2012.
Meeks was one of four men who were arrested as part of Operation Ceasefire, a multiagency mission involving the Stockton police gang unit, the FBI, and the U.S. Marshals Task Force aimed at cracking down on a recent surge in shootings and robberies in the Weston Ranch area of Stockton.

Meeks, who is scheduled to be arraigned on Friday afternoon, is being held in lieu of $900,000 bail.
One user’s comments mirrored a similar sentiment throughout: “he should of got a modeling contract instead of being involved with crime!”
