Liberal incumbent Ami Bera will be facing Doug Ose, also known for his liberal views, for US Representative in the Sacramento County’s 7th Congressional District.
According to the Sacramento Bee, with 67% of the precincts tabulated, Bera cruised to an easy victory, capturing 50% of the votes. Ose, who served in congress between 1999 to 2005, has held off Republicans Igor Birman and Elizabeth Emken, garnering 26% of the votes, while the others were at 15% and 7% respectively.
Breitbart News noted in a recent article that Bera succeeded in being ranked the fourth worst congressman by the conservative Club for Growth, which described Ose as a pro-tax Democrat who “supported amnesty for illegal aliens, supported expanding federal gun control laws, and was an ardent supporter of abortion rights.”
Conservatives and tea party grass roots organizations were hoping that Birman would pull out a second place ranking, but that did not happen on Tuesday. Birman is a constitutional conservative and has been endorsed by Kentucky Senator Rand Paul and his father, former Texas congressman Ron Paul. Moreover, he was backed by conservative groups Freedom Works and Gun Owners of America.
Birman earned his conservative stripes as an aide to iconic California Lawmaker and Congressman Tom McClintock.
