Update Kamla Harris will face Republican Ronald Gold in a the November election for California Attorney General. Harris received 62% of the vote while Gold managed to collect just over 11%.
The Los Angeles Times reported that Attorney General Kamala Harris will be facing off against one of four Republican candidates in November and is easily expected to prevail and remain as the state’s chief attorney.
Although the returns are not fully in, the Democrat incumbent had garnered 54% of the early returns, while four other Republicans captured less than 14% of the vote. The winner of those will confront Harris in November. The four candidates are state legislator Phil Wyman, deputy city attorney David King, prosecutor Ronald Gold, and attorney John Haggerty.
According to KPBS, Phil Wyman had proposed public executions for Democratic lawmakers who violated their oaths of office and were involved in abuse of power scandals. Deputy attorney King protested the comment and lobbied to have Wyman removed from the race.
