Donald Sterling will reportedly sue the NBA for $1 billion a day after his wife reportedly accepted a deal to sell the team to former Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer for $2 billion.
NBC first reported that Sterling may sue for $1 billion, and one of his lawyers confirmed the story to CBS News.
NBA Commissioner Adam Silver banned Sterling for life after an audio recording in which Sterling told V. Stiviano to not bring “black people” to his games surfaced.
The league also fined Sterling $2.5 million, which he has not paid, and scheduled a meeting for Tuesday in which 3/4 of the owners could have voted to force him to sell his team.
Sterling also has been reportedly diagnosed with Alzheimer’s, which allowed his wife to accept Ballmer’s offer as “sole trustee of The Sterling Family Trust” without Sterling’s signature. Sterling’s reported diagnosis could complicate all of his legal matters.
