A source close to the family of the suspected Isla Vista mass murderer alerted the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s department one month ago, expressing their concern about violent videos their son had been posting on the internet.
The Los Angeles Times reported that the source wished to remain anonymous, but maintained that Elliot Rodger’s parents had notified the police of his behavior. It is unclear which video prompted them to alert authorities. The Times reported that Rodger had posted more than one video sharing his deep alienation and his blatant hostility toward his peers and humanity in general.
As Breitbart News reported earlier on Saturday, seven people were killed Friday evening in a shooting attack. Some of the dead may have been hit and killed by Rodger’s black BMW. A video was released shortly after the killings titled “Elliot Rodger’s Retribution,” which revealed the troubled young man explaining why he wanted to inflict mayhem and murder.
The video shows Rodger looking into a camera while sitting in his car, lamenting about his life and threatening revenge for being rejected: “For the last eight years of my life, since I hit puberty, I’ve been forced to endure an existence of loneliness, rejection and unfulfilled desires, all because girls have never been attracted to me. Girls gave their affection and sex and love to other men, never to me.”
