A special education teacher in Clarksburg, California, has been accused of stealing medication from students at her school, some of whom she may have taught, according to a report from CBS Sacramento.
Sheri Haselhuhn, 40, was a 14-year veteran teacher at Delta Elementary Charter and was apparently well-liked before the incident. “She taught my son how to read,” parent Linda McCapes told CBS. “She was nice.”
When school officials noticed that medication was missing from the students’ designated medication room, they turned to surveillance camera footage to catch the culprit, according to the report.
Yolo County detectives said they are still investigating the incident, but school principal Steve Lewis issued this statement to CBS: “I think the most important message to our families is that the safety of our children is No. 1 priority, and we want all our families to know that’s why we notified law enforcement and took immediate action.”
While the report doesn’t indicate whether the teacher was fired, her teacher profile appears to have been removed from the school website.
