Cinco de Seis wasn’t quite as much fun as Cinco de Mayo for many of the revelers who ended up spending it in a drunk tank somewhere in Los Angeles County.
According to the Los Angeles Times, a countywide dragnet by 100 law enforcement agencies employing neighborhood patrol efforts and sobriety checkpoints proved efficient. Throughout the LA region at least 466 people were arrested for driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol (DUI) over the period of Friday to Monday.
The Los Angeles Register reported that additional DUI checkpoints and high visibility patrols are scheduled for Memorial Day and Independence Day.
