Audio–Clippers Owner to Girlfriend: Don't Bring Black People to Games

TMZ obtained audio of Los Angeles Clippers owner Donald Sterling telling his girlfriend, who is half black and half Mexican, to not take pictures with black people and never bring black people to Clipper games — including Magic Johnson. 

Sterling was reportedly incensed when his girlfriend, who is half black and half Mexican, took a photo with Magic Johnson and posted it on her Instagram. Sterling apparently received phone calls from his friends about his girlfriend’s photo with Magic Johnson. 

“Why are you taking pictures with minorities?” Sterling asks before calling minorities, including his girlfriend, “enemies.” 

Sterling also says, “people feel certain things. Hispanics feel certain things towards blacks. Blacks feel certain things towards other groups. It’s been that way historically, and it will always be that way.” 

Sterling gets incensed when his girlfriend asks him if he would be as upset if she had taken a picture with Larry Bird and calls his girlfriend someone who has a terrible mouth and is a “fighter.”

Sterling, who has had a history of accusations of racism against him and has been accused of refusing to rent his apartments to blacks and Latinos, said his girlfriend looks like a “delicate white” or “delicate Latina” and she should not be associating with black people in public. 

Sterling then denies knowing that his girlfriend is “mixed.” She tells him that she is sorry that he is surrounded by racists and is a racist himself. 

Magic Johnson responded to TMZ by saying, “it’s a shame that Donald Sterling feels that way about African-Americans.”

“He has a team full of amazing African-American basketball players that are working to bring a championship to Clippers fans,” he added. “The Clippers also have a strong minority fan base.”
