The LA Times just gave the anti-Koch brothers’ left a new link to send like-minded souls.
The newspaper is covering the battle against rules that give solar energy an economic boost in the battle against traditional power sources. It’s hardly an unusual fight, nor are the two sides in the skirmish unfamiliar to partisan watchers.
Yet the newspaper saw fit to bring in the funding behind a group who thinks its very bad business to give solar energy significant market advantages.
Solar, once almost universally regarded as a virtuous, if perhaps over-hyped, energy alternative, has now grown big enough to have enemies.
The Koch brothers, anti-tax activist Grover Norquist and some of the nation’s largest power companies have backed efforts in recent months to roll back state policies that favor green energy. The conservative luminaries have pushed campaigns in Kansas, North Carolina and Arizona, with the battle rapidly spreading to other states.
The article does allow both sides in the debate their fair shake, but it’s typical of modern media standards that the financial powers behind conservative causes are underlined, highlighted and italicized–particularly if they have the words “Koch” or “brothers” attached to them.
