Huy Fong Foods, the maker of Sriracha Hot Sauce, received backing from the GOP in the battle the saucemaker is having with the city of Irwindale, CA. The Republican Party of Los Angeles County (RPLAC) issued a statement announcing its unanimously-supported resolution supporting the Sriracha sauce company.

The city is planning to consider Resolution #2014-14-2674 on April 23, the Orange County Register reports. That resolution asserts that Huy Fong Foods, which makes Sriracha, is a public nuisance because of the smell from the production of the sauce.

RPLAC Vice Chairman Art Alas said he took a tour of the factory and there is no smell. He added that there is no cause for declaring the company a public nuisance. He also said he was grateful for the company’s business and economic contribution to the local area.

The GOP resolution reads:

Today, the Republican Party of Los Angeles County unanimously passed resolution supporting Sriracha sauce company and strongly opposes City of Irwindale efforts to make business life difficult for Huy Fong Foods: Be it resolved that the Republican Party of Los Angeles County urges the City Council of Irwindale to take such actions as necessary to keep Huy Fong Foods in Los Angeles County and, Therefore, be it resolved this 19th Day of April, 2014 that the Republican Party stands with Sriracha and supports Huy Fong Foods as it continues to grow, create jobs and to bolster the local economy.
