Firefighters in Sheboygan, Wisconsin, are paying tribute in a unique way to healthcare workers battling the coronavirus pandemic.
When the Town of Sheboygan Fire Department heard about the online #HeartsforHealthCare trend to show medical personnel how much they are appreciated, they wanted to take part, according to Fox News.
Saturday, the department shared a video on their Facebook page that shows nine red and white emergency vehicles assembled in a heart shape in the station’s parking lot.
As the camera zooms out, a white heart made from a fire hose can be seen on the pavement.
Moments later in the video, two firefighters place large posters on the ground inside the cluster of vehicles that have “thank you” messages written on them.
“Tonight we join others in sharing #heartsforhealthcare,” the video’s caption reads.
Following the event, Facebook users expressed their gratitude and praised the first responders for protecting their communities during the health crisis.
“Looked awesome!! Thank you for taking the time to do this and thank you for all you do!!” one person wrote.
“Proud to be a part of the Town of Sheboygan Fire Department,” another commented.
Prior to the event, the department shared photos of chalk art left by neighbors who also wanted to show their support:
Monday, President Donald Trump shared the tribute video to his Instagram page.
“We are humbled that our small act of thanks to healthcare workers has been recognized by so many around the nation, including our own President Donald J. Trump,” the department wrote on Facebook.
“Please, continue to spread the love of #heartsforhealthcare,” the post continued.
Later, the department announced that it would be featured on Fox & Friends Tuesday morning to discuss how others could help support healthcare workers.
“We are absolutely blown away by the national attention, and we are so humbled that such a small act of kindness has made such an impact. Please post your tribute to healthcare and make sure to use the hashtag #heartsforhealthcare!” the post concluded.
