A 45-year-old female German teacher in the city of Landshut has been put on trial after being accused of raping a 15-year-old Afghan asylum seeker boy, a charge which she has denied.

The 45-year-old woman is said to have met the Afghan asylum seeker at a shelter for migrants in the municipality of Kumhausen just outside of Landshut at the height of the migrant crisis in 2015 Die Welt reports.

According to the indictment, the woman took advantage of the 15-year-old sexually and raped him. The teacher has denied the accusation claiming that the boy presented himself to her as being 22-years-old and had attempted to force himself on her sexually and she had rejected his advances.

The judge in the case confronted the 45-year-old as to how the DNA of the Afghan had been found in her body, to which the woman had no answer saying she had no idea how it could have occurred. The trial is set to continue later in the week.

The sexual exploitation of migrants by both men and women has been seen throughout the years following the migrant crisis. In France, female open borders activists were accused of exploiting young male migrants and engaging in a form of sex tourism while visiting the infamous Calais Jungle migrant camp before its closure.

In Greece, another activist organisation, the U.S.-based Mercy Corps, was placed under investigation in 2017 after allegations emerged that members of the group working at Greek migrant camps were sexually exploiting migrants as well.

European women seeking relationships with migrants much younger than themselves has also been a trend noticed in several countries like Austria where the women have become known as “Sugar Mamas”, giving migrants gifts and a place to live in exchange for sexual gratification.
