Commission: Mass Third World Migration Central to EU Values, Refusing Quotas ‘Unacceptable’

Refusing refugee quotas is “unacceptable”, Brussels has said, stating that migration from Africa and the Middle East is “directly linked” to values on which the European Union (EU) was built.

Migration commissioner Dimitris Avramopoulos said asylum seekers arriving in Europe must be shared out across the bloc, and dismissed the idea that nations opposed to compulsory quotas could show “solidarity” with financial contributions and means other than resettling third world migrants within their borders.

“It is a shared responsibility. All countries should be part of our policy to share the burden of this heavy pressure,” he told AFP ahead of a meeting of EU interior minister due to be held in Sofia on Thursday.

The Greek commissioner said the refusal of some countries to take in African and Middle Eastern migrants on Brussels’ orders threatens to tear the bloc apart.

“It is not economic problems that have endangered the European project, but the migration and refugee crises,” Avramopoulos said, explaining that the mass movement of migrants from the third world is “directly linked to the principles and values on which Europe is based”.

“It is very urgent to move forward in adopting a new Dublin,” insisted the former Greek foreign minister, referring to EU plans to change asylum rules in the bloc which have been characterised by Hungarian leader Viktor Orbán as the implementation of globalist billionaire George Soros’s plan to flood the continent with migrants from Africa and Asia.

AFP reported Avramopoulos was “unrepentant” over comments made in December when he denounced European Council chief Donald Tusk’s call for Brussels to scrap the “ineffective” and “highly divisive” migrant quota scheme as “anti-European”.

“What I said at this moment was said because I felt that these statements were undermining our European strategy on very important issues,” he told the news agency.

Hungary, Poland, and the Czech Republic are among nations opposing the quota scheme, pointing out it is much more cost-effective to help the displaced near their homes, and stressing that they reject being forced to adopt the multicultural model of Western Europe.

On Wednesday, the supposedly ‘centre-right’ figure gave a speech outlining the European Commission’s commitment to creating legal channels to enable mass migration from the third world, and gave special thanks to senior Labour MEP Claude Moraes — an open borders campaigner listed by Soros’s Open Society Foundations as a “reliable ally” to the financier on a whole range of policy issues, who as early as 2007 discussed with The Guardian his determination to combat “whiteness” in Brussels.

As Breitbart London previously reported, Avramopoulos last month said Europeans must accept mass migration from Africa and the Middle East as the “new norm”, in a piece for Politico warning neither walls nor policies will allow any part of the EU to remain “homogenous and migration-free”.
