Protesters gathered outside the Home Office in London Monday calling for the British government to take more child migrants.
Earlier in the day, officials announced the transfer of underage migrants from the notorious Calais ‘Jungle’ camp was paused while the camp was demolished.
“Due to planned operational activity in Calais, and at the request of the French authorities, we have reluctantly agreed that the transfer process will be temporarily paused,” the Home Office said.
Protesters gathered outside the government department wearing masks depicting the famous British children’s literature character Paddington Bear, and holding signs with the slogan “London will not have forgotten how to treat stangers”, a quote from the books.
